Returns & Refunds Policy — The Outdoor Kid Co
Every piece we make is pressed by hand and made to order, just for your kid — we don't keep racks of pre-made stock sitting around. That small-batch, made-just-for-you approach is what we're about, and it shapes how returns and refunds work here. Please give this a read before you order, and reach out any time if something isn't right. We're real parents on the other end, and we want your kid in a shirt they love.
Made to order
Because each item is created specifically for your order, we're not able to accept returns or issue refunds for change of mind or an incorrect size choice. We know that's a little different from big-box stores — it's the trade-off that comes with handmade, made-just-for-you pieces. Orders typically ship within 3-5 business days (you'll see current timing on the product page and at checkout). If you're between sizes or unsure, message us and we'll happily help you choose.
If it doesn't fit
Since your shirt is made to order, we can't take worn or washed items back — but we don't want your little one stuck in the wrong size. If the fit isn't right, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll remake it in the correct size at a discounted rate that just covers our materials and shipping. Keep (or pass along) the original — no need to send it back.
If something's wrong with your order
This one's on us, and we'll make it right. If your item arrives flawed, misprinted, damaged, or it's simply not what you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the issue and your order number. We'll send a free replacement or a full refund — your choice. No need to return the item.
Refunds
Refunds are issued in two situations: your item arrived defective, damaged, or incorrect (see above), or we're unable to fulfill your order. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 5–10 business days. We don't offer refunds for change of mind or sizing on made-to-order items.
Partial refunds
Sometimes a full return or remake isn't what anyone wants. We may offer a partial refund as a fair middle ground — for example, if there's a small flaw you're happy to live with and would rather keep the shirt than wait on a replacement, or if only one item in a larger order had an issue. These are handled case by case; just reach out and we'll find something that works for both of us.
Changes & cancellations
Because we start making your order soon after it's placed, please request any changes or cancellations within 24 hours of ordering. After that, your shirt may already be in production, and we won't be able to change or cancel it.
Shipping hiccups
- Damaged in transit: Send us a photo within 7 days of delivery and we'll replace or refund it.
- Lost or stuck packages: Once your order is handed to the carrier, delivery timing is out of our hands — but we won't leave you hanging. Reach out and we'll help track it down and file a claim if needed.
- Address errors: Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We aren't able to cover the cost of reshipping orders sent to an incorrectly entered address, but we'll always help you sort it out.
Preorders
Some items — like seasonal designs or special colors — are available for preorder and ship by the estimated date shown on the product page. You can cancel a preorder any time before it ships for a full refund.
Sale items
Discounted and final-sale items are not eligible for exchange or refund except in the case of a defect.
